Our Team

Project Co-ordinator:

Employability Team Officer:  Carolyn Kennedy

Carolyn has had a varied career, starting out in Administration often within the education sector in schools and at the University Campus in Dumfries.  She has experience of working for a Charity when she was Fund-raising Manager for the Crichton Foundation.  For 9 years Carolyn ran her own hair and beauty business in Castle Douglas. During this time she worked with local schools to recruit young people and support their SVQ training in partnership with the College.

“No two days are the same – the young people never disappoint – it is a real pleasure and privilege to be a part of this innovative project supporting our young people and their families to move onto their ‘next steps’”

Employability Support Assistant: Claire Burns –

Claire is one of the Employability Support Assistants within the project.  Her previous working roles have been to support others to develop knowledge, understanding and skills through positive engagement.  Claire has completed a diploma in social sciences and HNC in Social care and this has enabled her to possess the qualifications required to embark on a career supporting young adults with additional needs.  Claire’s eldest son has a diagnosis of childhood Autism, and this personal knowledge and understanding of ASD, equips her to have hands on experience supporting someone with complex needs and the importance of offering information in manageable bite size pieces.

“The young people’s enthusiasm once they begin to engage makes my role within the project extremely rewarding”.

Employability Support Assistant: Kelly Clark –

Kelly studied at Dumfries and Galloway College for three years, completing her further education with an HNC in Social Care. Kelly’s focus during this time was mental health. Since joining BLP, Kelly has undertaken a Level 2 Understanding Autism course which has helped her to understand more about ASD. She is enjoying learning everyday about our young people as individuals and how to support their individual needs effectively.

“I joined the team because I am passionate about the well-being of young people in our community”.

Administrator: Amanda Ansbro  –

Amanda has a background of administrative roles mainly within the NHS Dumfries & Galloway.  She joined the BLP team in February 2018 to provide administrative support to the Bridge to Employability project.

“It’s great to be involved in this exciting new charity and to help the team provide support to the local young people and families involved”.
